(2016) What do we Want? is layered with an intentional clutter of representations. Each hand-crafted plate contains symbols and images that present possible answers to the title question, although it may be unclear what those answers are and just who each plate represents: actual individuals, survey percentages, or imagined participants. The cacophony of signifiers mimics the noise of advertising, constantly telling us what our desires ought to be. Participants scraffittoed blue on white porcelain bowls but didn't get to keep their own. Instead they received a bowl made earlier in a different class, and their bowl was fired and given to someone else later.
